About me

I am passionate about heritage projects that have purpose, those which can make a real difference to communities and individuals.

I enjoy helping organisations connect their heritage stories and places with their audiences, finding themes and messages that have purpose, taking inspiration from past and place to help make a better future people and communities.

I started my career in museums and built heritage but my passion for nature has led to me working on natural heritage and landscape projects.

I am a mentor and expert advisor for the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) and have been involved in over 35 NLHF-funded projects from large-scale national projects to smaller community-based organisations.

I am frequently commissioned to support projects through their Activity Planning and funding applications, audience engagement and in the development of heritage learning programmes and resources

My past projects →

My decades working across a wide range of sites and projects have given me a depth of understanding and reference that informs the insight I bring to new work; giving context to new projects helps to enrich and improve their reach and level of impact and success.

I know what quality is, I was involved in the development of the Inspiring Learning for All framework and have developed best practice guidance for the cultural sector in working with schools, older learners, early years.

  • I felt motivated and reassured by your knowledge, passion, experience and pragmatism. You really helped me to understand the context in which we were working and the processes involved…you were always practical, focussed and accessible.

  • You are fully attentive, you are interested in what we are doing and saying.

  • Jane was open, organised with her time, fully prepared, diligent, and willing to listen to the progress and challenges that we experienced in the delivery of the project.

  • Without Jane’s fluent knowledge of the NLHF language, systems and her professional experience … we would have been lost multiple times.

  • Your direct knowledge of designing and delivering engagement activity with communities and your previous work to plan engagement projects were crucial elements in enabling us to create our own Activity Plan.

  • I’ve been really pleased with the way your team have delivered the plan and final document is excellent. More importantly it is a document that we can use – it was also good that were able to ‘tailor’ the plan so that is was something that would work within our organisation. Your team got the right balance of listening to the client, but also pushing us in the right direction!
